In global era, education should help students to meet the challenges of today’s world. Education for Global citizenship is essential in providing knowledge, understanding, skills and values to cope up with these challenges. To impart the education for Global citizenship, future teachers should be empowered to do so. With this objective Global citizenship club is formed for our student teachers. Through this club student teachers will be prepared to shoulder the responsibility of being social agent.

OBJECTIVES

• To develop critical thinking about global issues and to equip students with knowledge, skill and values to be an active global citizen.
• To foster international mindedness among student teachers.

ACTIVITIES

• The club organizes LibreOffice tutorials for the student teachers to help them acquaint to open source software.
• Discussion of national and world news during assembly.
• Celebration of International days.
• Viewing and discussion on topics using TED talks, from YouTube, illustrations, story narration.

• Students were given various countries along with their uniqueness. Students read about it and collected relevant information. They presented in groups followed by discussion. This seminar was helpful to students to widen their perspective about the globe.
• Countries, regions or tribes were selected by students. Students collected information about the respective country, region, flora fauna, geographical features, economic condition, education system and culture. Further they made presentations based on their country/region and its culture. Students got to know about different countries all over the world.

• Students were given access to online free classes and were encouraged to complete it. It is very essential to develop new skills to cope up with changing technology.
• Students made surveys on some social issues like women hygiene, child marriage, internet addiction, dowry, gender inequality etc. These studies made them sensitize about the global issues.
• Dr. Geeta R Thakur took a session on Education system in Finland and Singapore to make the students aware about the good education system worldwide.
• A national level seminar was organized on “Designing 21st Century Classroom” to equip teachers to face 21st century challenges, with the capacity to think critically, solve problems and respond to a changing society.
