Alumni Meet

On 23rd December, 2023, an Alumni meet was organized by the Pillai Education Alumni Association at MES’ Pillai College of Education and Research in New Panvel. The event was hosted by the teacher educators, Ms. Manju Vinish and Ms. Shruti Nari. The purpose of the meet was to bring together former students of the institution and provide them with an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new connections. The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to all the alumni in attendance. A prayer was held, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, signifying the start of the gathering. These traditional rituals added a touch of solemnity and reverence to the occasion, creating an atmosphere of unity and shared values.

Throughout the day, various activities and performances were organized to entertain the attendees. The present batch of B.Ed. students showcased their talent through captivating dance performances, adding excitement and liveliness to the event. The alumni had the opportunity to witness the achievements of the top performer from B.Ed. 2021-23, Ms. Astha Pandey. She was honored and felicitated for her outstanding accomplishments.

To keep everyone informed about the activities and progress of the alumni association, the Joint Secretary of PEAA, Dr. Geeta S. Thakur presented an alumni report. This report gave the attendees a glimpse into the initiatives and achievements of the association, highlighting the contributions and efforts made by the alumni community as a whole.

The event concluded with the release of the alumni newsletter, followed by a lively dance and music session. The audience enjoyed the updates and stories in the newsletter, and then let loose on the dance floor, creating new memories and celebrating their connections. It was a joyful ending to a memorable evening.

Although some alumni were unable to attend the meet, their absence was felt, and there was a collective desire to involve them in future community initiatives undertaken by the Pillai Education Alumni Association. The event served as a reminder of the strong connections formed during the time spent at the institution and reinforced the importance of staying connected and contributing to the growth and welfare of the alumni community. The event not only fostered a sense of belonging among the alumni but also encouraged their continued involvement in the association’s future endeavors.

The event was hosted by two alumni, Ms. Ichha Mehrotra and Ms. Dipti Nambiar. The purpose of the meet was to bring together former students of the institution and provide them with an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new connections. Vipasha Adlakha and Swapna Mamidwar from B.Ed. 2018-20, Poornima Shetty from B.Ed. 2019-21, Jasmine Parulekar from 2020-22 and Radhika Dave from M.Ed. 2019-21 were honored and felicitated for their outstanding accomplishments.

Following the formal proceedings, the atmosphere became more festive as the attendees engaged in Garba-dandiya celebrations. The traditional Gujarati dance form brought everyone together on the dance floor, providing a joyful and energetic experience for all. It was a moment of pure celebration, where the alumni let loose and danced to their hearts’ content, creating lasting memories and strengthening the bond between them.

The Pillai Education Alumni Association is force to reckon with. The alumni of the college are involved in various activities in a collective as well as individual manner. To celebrate their work and contribution to the society, we have our alumni meet. This year the meet was organized on 25th August, 2018. The event like previous years was held at the campus of Pillai College of Education and Research, Panvel.

The formal function began with the lighting of the lamp and prayer. Alumni meet is also a platform where college toppers of the previous batch are felicitated. Our topper of M.Ed. (2016-18) Ms. Rashi Ahuja and B.Ed. (2016-18) topper Ms. Kanchan Sharma were felicitated on this occasion. They spoke of their time at our college and their future plans. It was indeed wonderful to listen to them! The session continued with the reading of the report of the alumni association by the Jt. Secretary, Ms. Bindu S. Tambe. The foremost of this was initiative towards funding the education of orphan children of Immanuel Mercy Home, Chiple. The other activities of the previous year were also brought to the notice of the alumni. Different work carried out by our alumni were presented. The bank account information of the alumni association was disseminated to all present. A request was sent to all to conduct their activities through the bank and also a call to raise membership was made to all.

The occasion also marked the release of the 8th edition of the Alumni Association newsletter. The newsletter depicted all the community related work for the previous academic year. It gave equal coverage to all the activities of the association in a colourful manner.

The formal function concluded by the inspiring words of our Principal Dr. Sally Enos who congratulated the alumni for their untiring efforts put forth in the society for the betterment of the less privileged. This day also marked the farewell of one our beloved teachers, Dr. Geeta R. Thakur. After more than 10 years of service with Pillai College of Education and Research, Panvel, Geeta ma’am is moving on to other projects. We wished her all the best for her future endeavours and relived her 10 years with the institute with a power point presentation and presented her with a small token of love and appreciation.

A session on Financial Planning for a Secure & Better Future” was also conducted for the benefit of the alumni as well as the students and teachers. Mr. Mathew was the in-charge of the session and he spoke about the various aspects of financial planning required in order to make our money grow and to inculcate the habit of saving.

The session ended with the vote of thanks and refreshments were served to all. It was time to meet and greet all our old classmates and create wonderful memories. It was a wonderful day!!!

Alumni Meet 2016-17 was held on 13th August, 2016 at PCER Panvel. The formal function was followed by the inspiring words of our Principal Dr. Sally Enos who congratulated the Alumni for their untiring efforts put forth towards the society. The occasion was also marked by a colourful and entertaining programme by S.Y.B.Ed. students and the release of the annual newsletter of the Alumni association.

Alumni meet 2015-16 was held on 19th December 2015 at PCER Panvel. On this occasion, the guest of honour were the top rank holders of the academic year 2014-15 from B.Ed. and M.Ed. The formal function was marked with the felicitation of the guest of honour followed by their inspiring words and study tips for the current batch. The annual newsletter of the Alumni association was released. The students of the current batch presented a colourful and entertaining programme for the Alumni.
