S.Y. B.Ed. Semester IV student teachers undertook community service at Sopan and Dr. N.M. Jadhav Foundation Special School for Intellectually Disabled. The programme provided an opportunity to interact with children from diverse backgrounds, including learners with intellectual disabilities, and to understand their educational, emotional, and developmental needs through meaningful engagement.
The student teachers participated in teaching-learning activities using learner-centred and individualized approaches suited to the children’s abilities. The experience strengthened their understanding of inclusive education (S.Y. B.Ed. Semester IV) by providing real-life exposure to key principles such as diversity, equity, inclusion, and individualized support. It also enhanced essential professional qualities such as patience, empathy, communication, and adaptability, preparing them to become compassionate and inclusive educators committed to meeting the needs of every learner.
