Stress Management Programme
According to Kelly Clarkson, God will never give you anything you can’t handle, so don’t stress. Christopher says, “I believe that stress is a factor in any bad health.” This emphasizes the importance of stress management in our life. It is truer in the case of B.Ed. teacher trainees who undergo rigorous training during the course. Keeping this in mind our college organized the stress management programme. Under this programme the following activities were implemented for a period of 15 days:
- Comic videos were used in the class as a laughter therapy in the Morning assembly. The students laughed heartily and felt relaxed for the day long. This made them realize the importance of laughter in life.
- Students were involved in making charts on the different aspects of stress management and displayed.
- Relaxation music was played during recess and other free time as it is said music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
- Yoga is considered as the best way to live stress-free. To experience this, students practiced Pranayam in the daily assembly.
- Being assertive is being able to express oneself with confidence without resorting to passive, aggressive or manipulative behavior. It is necessary to live a stress free life. So in order to inculcate this skill, ‘Assertiveness training model’ was implemented in the classroom. The importance of assertiveness in life was explained to the students. Role-play was then taken up by the students.
According to Hans Seley, “Adopting the right attitude can convert a negative stress into a positive one.” The stress management programme helped to cultivate a positive attitude towards life.
